Meet Gemini, Libra and Aquarius, cravers of chats and connections, mistrals of knowledge and charisma - the air signs of the zodiac. Swift as the breeze, these tempests will sweep through your life, disrupting all residue and questioning everything without reserve.

Reflecting on my experience with air signs, I find the rumours to be true. The Aquarians I know are rebellious, self-starting tempests, yawing from the crowd with pride. I find myself envious of the trademark Libra charm and wit. And every time I promise myself I won’t fall in love with another kaleidoscopic Gemini, I know I believe a lie.

artil writers Micaela, Emily and Olyvia have offered us their perspective on their signs. From revealing whether or not the stereotypes are true to who they believe their sign is most romantically compatible with, their takes are hot and the tea is, most definitely, spilled.

So - without further ado - let’s get into it.

Gemini (May 21 - June 21)

Resident Gemini, digital nomad and artil writer Emily Reed shares her perspective on the perhaps most feared sign of the zodiac, the sallying Gemini. The third sign of the zodiac, ruled by Mercury and symbolised by the celestial twins, Gemini is the maverick we have all heard rumours about. But are Geminis truly such flirtatious party animals ready to rail but allergic to a cuddle? Is the Gemini smile truly so heart-wrenching, their energy so relentlessly childlike? Are they two-faced or - maybe - just complicated human beings, like the rest of us?

Love

“I find myself fitting the profile of the flirtatious Gemini. Yet, there is a part of me that would love a world-altering connection with someone, that yearns for stability and love. The other, for me, the more dominant side of my personality is fiery, flirty and incapable of staying in one place - or with one person - for too long. I also definitely agree that most Gemini soulmates tend to be Leos. I have always found connections with Leos, no matter where I am.”

Career

“In terms of career, I find the Gemini nature works in my favour a lot. Before Covid-19, I would travel as a digital nomad, spending the day working and the nights at a local bar with new friends - and lovers, of course.

I’m a journalist by trade, so there are times, particularly in an interview situation, where I need to adapt my personality and do whatever I can to put my subject at ease. Gemini nosiness also works in my favour here!”

Friendship

“I definitely identify as a social butterfly, most of my Gemini friends fit the bill for that as well. I find myself being quite erratic, often deemed “too much” by my friends. I always feel like my brain is working overtime; wheels are constantly churning - especially in social situations.

I can’t say I’ve ever had trouble making friends - however, I do find myself struggling to establish a certain level of intimacy with people. I'm always a little hesitant to go beneath the surface level and establish those deep, lasting connections.”

Libra (Sep. 23 - Oct. 22)

Olyvia, artil writer, high-performance athlete, polyglot and Libra, provides her two cents on this symmetry simping sign. The ever diplomatic seventh sign of the zodiac, these scale carrying charmers are an unlikely mix of rationality and inane indecisiveness. Ruled by Venus, they are deep lovers, guilty of the occasional (or more frequent) bouts of vanity and a wandering gaze.

Love

“I am currently dating an Aries, for over 15 months, which for people my age, is a fairly long time. Communication plays a key role for me when it comes to love. I believe it's important to find someone who has their own perspective of the world. I find that much more intriguing than someone who agrees unthinkingly. It does take me a while to open up because, for me, it's all or nothing, always.”

Friendship

“I like to believe I bring the energy to others because I have a lot to offer. I'm always the friend people go to for help and support. However, this inversely plays a negative role on my personal well being as I find that I keep minor inconveniences bottled up unless it's a large problem, in which case I confront the conflict so we can all move on. I trust in forgiveness because there is no gain in holding grudges, but my friends often say I forgive too easily.”

Career

“I have many passions and I like the option of having freedom in the path I wish to take. I enjoy going with the flow and having a little uncertainty, even when it comes to my career. I feel suffocated when things are set in stone.”

Aquarius (Jan 20 - Feb 18)

Aquarians, the eleventh sign of the zodiac and Uranus ruled water bearers, are renowned for their creativity, humanitarianism and rebel tendencies. Yet, despite evoking myriad positive connotations, they often find themselves characterised as uncaring, distracted and inflexible. artil writer, mental health advocate and YouTuber, Micaela clears up some of this confusion for us, offering us her take on the Aquarius identity.

Friendship

“I always hated seeing Aquarius categorised as an alien or emotionless in social media posts. I love meeting new people! Although it might take me a minute to warm up to someone new, I consider myself an emotional, easy-going and outgoing person. I desire to be a dependable, loyal, and honest friend who wants nothing for the best for the people in my circle, to go on adventures and make lasting memories with the people dear to my heart.”

Career

“I love being creative and expressing myself through the arts. Just like everyone else, I want to be successful and showcase my strengths in my career. I've noticed since I was a little girl that I am a very imaginative person. So, it doesn't surprise me that I love writing and filmmaking as much as I do today. Nor does it surprise me that I love decorating people's cards, scrapbooking, or going to Michael's whenever I can because creativity, I have found, is one of my biggest strengths.”

Love

“When it comes to love, I consider myself to be a hopeless romantic. I dream of being with someone who thrives on deep, intellectual conversations, who understands my need for time to myself and shares my belief in friendship as the basis of love.”

There we have it - a few of artil’s empowered, dynamic air sign bearers; Emily the uncontainable Gemini, Micaela, the demiurgic Aquarius and Olyvia, the vibrant Libra.

Stick around for the next instalment of artil magazine’s astrological ventures and see how a handful of our water sign bearing team members feel about their reputation as the emotional, excessively flexible and, so very passionate element of the zodiac.
